Hi, I’m Danna Larson.

I was born and raised on a family farm in western Iowa, and I loved every single minute of it. From the start, it was my deepest dream to one day return. And in 2020, that dream finally came true.

But recently, I had an eye-opening realization: I was back on the farm, yet I wasn’t fully living out the reasons I’d longed to return in the first place. Last year, while writing my book, something shifted. The writing process forced me to slow down, to truly embrace the rural lifestyle I’d craved for so long. I pulled out old family recipes and started cooking from scratch again. I learned how to can and make jam, started painting, and began filling my days with more of the simple, hands-on joys I’d almost forgotten.

In that intentional slow down, I rediscovered a missing piece of myself. I began putting down roots—real, deep roots—in a place where I’ve always belonged. And in the process, I started to flourish in ways I never could before.

This growing hunger for an analog life—the one people are finally starting to talk about openly—is very real. It’s a quiet rebellion against the constant noise and rush, a return to what grounds us.

Some of what I’ve discovered on this journey, I want to share with you through The Farm Letters. No matter where you are—whether you live in the countryside already, or whether a part of your heart still longs for that slower, rooted way of life—The Farm Letters are for you.

I pray these letters bring a little of that hard-to-find peace into your days, a touch of the simplicity your soul has been quietly craving, and a sense of belonging that fills the empty places inside.

welcome home .
